Satellite Meetings - Nanotoxicology 2010

Nanotoxicology 2010 will host four satellite meetings for European Union FP7 projects active in the area - these are outlined below.

For further information on any of these meetings please visit the respective project’s website.

ENPRA

The ENPRA project is a major new European Framework 7 project to develop and implement a novel integrated approach for engineered nanoparticle (ENP) risk assessment. This 3 ½ year project is led by Lang Tran of the Institute of Occupational Medicine, Edinburgh, and involves 15 European and 6 US partners including three US Federal Agencies: EPA, NIOSH and NIH-NIEHS. ENPRA will hold its first annual consortium meeting at Nanotoxicology 2010. The meeting is open to all consortium members only.

For further information, visit www.enpra.eu, or contact Dr Lang Tran (lang.tran@iom-world.org)

InLiveTox
InLiveTox is a consortium of partners across Switzerland (CSEM), UK (Edinburgh Napier University and Kirkstall), Germany (University of Saarlands and The Helmholtz Zentrum Munic), Italy (University of Pisa) and USA (University of Rochester).  This project aims to generate in vitro microfluidics model as an alternative for animal testing that can assess the hazard of ingested nanoparticles.
The InLiveTox meeting is a Project Progress meeting, open to consortium members only. For further information on InLiveTox, click here or visit the inlivetox.eu website, you can also contact Dr. Martha Liley (Martha.LILEY@csem.ch)

NANOMMUNE
The NANOMMUNE project commenced in 2008; it is a collaborative research project which brings together scientists from Europe and the USA under the co-ordination of Dr Bengt Fadeel of Karolinska Institutet, Sweden. Using a multidisciplinary approach, NANOMMUNE aims to establish a panel of read-out systems for the prediction of the toxic potential of existing and emerging ENPs, with emphasis on hazardous effects of ENPs on the immune system.

NANOMMUNE will hold a consortium meeting at Nanotoxicology 2010, it is open to consortium members only. For further information, please visit www.nanomune.eu or contact Dr. Christine Chang (Christine.Chang@ki.se)

NanoTEST
NanoTEST is a collaborative research project co-ordinated by Dr Maria Dusinska of NILU, Norway, which brings together a team of scientists from 11 institutions in Europe. Its overall aim is to develop alternative testing strategies and high-throughput toxicity testing protocols using in vitro and in silico methods essential for the risk assessment of nanoparticles used in medical diagnostics. NanoTEST will hold a consortium meeting at Nanotoxicology 2010 – this is open to consortium members only.
